Kindle is an e-book reader. Two popular models are the Amazon Kindle DX (we’ll talk about Kindle DX specs a bit later) and the Amazon Kindle 3G. These devices, like all Kindles, allow users to read ebooks or what’s known as a digital book after download from the Kindle store.
You can purchase a Kindle for just under $115.00 for the model which shows special offers on the e-reader. However, many opt to purchase the Amazon Kindle 3G or the Amazon Kindle DX. Although these models cost a bit more, the Kindle DX tech specs are definitely something to consider. With the added features of these models you can get more bang for your buck when investing in e-book reader technology.
For example, although you can read the same ebooks on each model of the Kindle, the way you access the digital book varies. With the Amazon Kindle 3G and the Amazon Kindle DX you have the ability to access your data in 100 countries and global territories with global wireless. Screen size may also be a specification you are interested in. You can compare all the models in the Kindle store, but essentially the DX version offers a 9.7” diagonal screen, while the 3G has a 6” diagonal screen like the basic Kindle with special offers.
All three versions of the Kindle have E Ink Pearl screen technology which allows reading in bright light with no glare. A Kindle can hold up to 3,500 digital book titles. They also have native PDF support; use Whispersync for downloads and are text-to speech enabled.
