  • Fix A Flat Tire
You can fix a flat tire with a tire repair kit if your tire is a tube tire, like that found on a bicycle. Using rubber compound, tire sealant and a tire compound you can have a quick flat tire solution to get your wheels rotating again in no time. If you frequently bike, you will want to know how to fix a flat tire.

It’s a good idea to have a patch set as a part of your tire repair kit on the road. You can get a small leak, and if you fix it quickly won’t have to get replacement tubes. Tire patches can come in the form of premade sticky patches, or tire sealant and rubber compound that you place on the tire using a metal scraper. Essentially these items are a form of glue that will bind the leak in the tire.

The first thing you’ll have to do when you suspect a flat tire is inspect the surface of the tire to find the problem. A portable tire inflator will allow you to hear the air escaping from small leaks where an obvious source like a nail or screw isn’t visible. When you’ve located the source a bit of sandpaper can be used in an area a bit larger than the leak. Rub off the shine. This allows the tire sealant or rubber compound to adhere and seal the leak. You may have to wait a bit for your flat tire solution to dry but then you’ll be riding again in no time.
